Department Overview
-
All students must complete three years of mathematics as a requirement of graduation, which includes Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. It's the vision of the school to provide every student with a sound basis in mathematics that they can apply to everyday situations as well as the fundamentals needed to be successful on required math assessments, such as the NJSLA, PSAT, SAT, ACT, ASVAB, and employment/college placement exams. While only three years of high school math is required, the math department encourages students to complete four years of mathematics. Students interested in a fourth year of math have several options to choose from whether they plan to take college level math or not. Our fourth year options include Pre-Calculus (College Prep or Honors), Discrete Math, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, and Applied Mathematics: Consumers & Careers.
