• Welcome to Franklin School!  Franklin Elementary School is a K-6 building, where we currently have two classes at each grade level.  This year our teachers are committed to implementing a balanced literacy approach in their classrooms.  This means that the classroom instruction will be based upon the needs of each individual student. Our social studies and science curricula have also been updated to align with our new standards.  Students in grades 3-6 will participate in our district's one:one initiative and receive school-issued Chromebooks.

We are a Bucket-Filling school, and each Friday our student council representatives collect the classroom buckets and choose winners from different grade levels. The students' names are announced along with the reason they received the ticket.  Reasons range from helping a friend with a problem to sharing a pencil. The chosen students receive a small prize and get their pictures taken.  Their names and photos are then displayed in our Bucket-Filler showcase!

As we are moving towards standards-based report cards, Franklin School will begin to offer character exemplary awards throughout the school year.  There will be a character trait assigned to each month.  Students caught exhibiting this specific character trait will be given a golden ticket.  This golden ticket will go into the class bucket as well.  At the end of each month, a student from each class will be announced as our character winners!

As your principal, I believe in challenging our students and holding them to high expectations.  I want our children to leave Franklin School knowing how to communicate effectively with one another in order to solve problems, and having the perseverance to overcome obstacles.  Our staff does an amazing job of supporting our students in their education.  As our namesake, Ben Franklin, has stated, "Tell me and I forget.  Teach me and I remember.  Involve me and I learn."

    Warm Regards,

    Lori Cohen, Principal
