    Please call for an appointment before visiting (making payment, registration, etc.) 201-843-1142 x2314.  When school is in session, please enter through the front entrance of the high school.   Beginning July 1, please enter through the Board of Education Office door on the parking lot side of the building.

    SUMMER CAMPS 2019

    • Registration forms and fees due by Monday before the camp week begins. 
    • Registrations received thereafter subject to a $10 late fee.  10% sibling discount available for children in same camp/week.  15% discount if 7-week camp is paid in full before June 17th.  Discounted rate included in the chart below.  Please fill out and return registration form/medical release with a copy of your child’s medical insurance card (the Board of Education does not insure your child) and all applicable fees to the Community Programs Office.  Please be sure to indicate the days and times your child will be attending camp.  There is no busing between camps.

    All children must be signed in and out daily by an adult listed on the registration form.  Please enter camp through the cafeteria door in the rear of the Smith School building.  Follow the fence on the right side of the building to the back of the school.

    Camp hours are from 8:30-5:00.  A Before Care program will be offered from 7:15-8:30 AM –$8 per day/ $30 per week.  An After Care Program will be offered from 5-6 PM for $8 per day/$30 per week.  There will be no camp activities during the Before and After Care programs.  Children picked up after 6 pm will be charged a $15 late fee for each 15 minutes.  There is no camp on July 4th.

    Tuition Refund Policy 

    No refunds or credits will be issued once camp has begun. Requests to withdraw from a camp must be made in writing 5 days or more before a camp begins.  There is $15.00 cancellation fee for any withdrawals.  There will be no refunds once the camp has started.  Trips are non-refundable.

    • Summer Recreation, Pre-K Camp, Yoga Camp, and Mad Science Camps are held at Helen I. Smith School, 30 Cambridge Avenue in air conditioned classrooms
    • Tennis Camp will be held in the tennis courts
    • Fast Break Basketball will be held in the High School /Middle School Gyms
    • Let The Games Begin will be held at Long Memorial School Gym.

    There is a 10% sibling discount available for same camp, same week.
    15% discount if paid in full for 7-week camp only before June 17th.

    Choose all 7 weeks or any week(s) you want. Choose a 3 or 5 day camp, you pick the days.

    Unregistered children will not be allowed on the playgrounds during camp hours. Campers must
    wear/bring sunscreen daily; bring towels, hats, for additional water days. All items children bring
    to camp must be labeled with their names.

    Campers planning on participating in water play must arrive wearing a swimsuit under their clothing.
    Campers are required to bring a peanut free lunch, 2 peanut free snacks and drinks for the day.
    Please label the lunch and snacks individually.  Refrigerator will be available.

    Pre-K Story Time Ages 3-4 

    Ages 3 to 4 years old (must be 3 by June 1) for 3 or 5 days
    Children must be potty trained.
    (See fees above and camp numbers.)


    Children will have fun listening to stories, participating in water play, playing games, making crafts, and singing songs with friends. Pre-K students must wear their swimwear under their clothes daily.  Children must wear sunscreen daily.  Campers are required to bring a peanut free snack and drink. Please register early as the AM camps fills up quickly. Minimum per class 5, maximum 15. Camp will be cancelled without sufficient enrollment.

     9. SAFETY TOWN ’19

    Grades K-1

    Grades K-1 children attending summer camp during this time can participate in Safety Town ’18 at no extra fee. Children must attend all days to receive Safety Town hat and certificate.
    This is an early childhood education program designed to introduce all types of safety.  During this 5-day program children learn safety behavior through role-playing in simulated and real life situations under the guidance of staff and a police officer.  Safety songs, poems, art projects, stories, movies, and visits with the Police and Fire Departments, First Aid Squad, Otto the Auto, and the Bergen County Police dog make this program a fun learning experience that children eagerly look forward to attending.  Inside activities take place in air-conditioned classrooms.

    There is no transportation from sports camps to Summer Recreation Camp at Smith School

    There are no discounts for siblings in sports camps.

Students will learn coordination skills and tennis techniques. Brush up your skills at our tennis camp. Learn the ins and outs of tennis and have fun.

    TOURNAMENTS/STATIONS/LEAGUES/CONTESTS

     FOR BOYS & GIRLS entering 2nd grade up to entering 9th grade from any town.
     
    All campers are grouped by age and ability for dynamic instruction in a positive fun atmosphere.


    Campers will receive quality basketball instruction from college and high school coaches and players utilizing progressive learning skills in a highly motivating, positive environment.  Additionally, campers will be involved in appropriate age and skill level league play.  In addition, campers will take part in exciting, structured tournaments and contests.  An awards ceremony with trophies will be held at the conclusion of camp!

    Camp is held at Long Memorial School Gym for Children entering Grades 1-3 and 4 -7 in September.

    Let the Games Begin, a unique session where kids will learn how to properly warm up, stretch and execute various calisthenic exercises. Afterwards, we will be playing different games which incorporate teamwork, strategy and most importantly, FUN! Sessions will be held at Long Memorial School Gym, which has air conditioning. Please send your child with a small snack, water and sunscreen if we go outside. Come join us for fun filled action with music, games and the chance to meet new friends!

    All children participating in trips must purchase a
    trip t-shirt to be worn on all trips.
    If you have a shirt from last year, you can use that,

    Trips are subject to change. All trips leave from Smith School.
    Please make sure your child is on time.
    Bus leaves at times indicated and will not wait for late children.
